I want to buy a tennis racquet for my boyfriend as a christmas gift, but i do not know much how to choose it.

By the way, my boyfriend is quite a good player. He has played tennis for more than 10 years. And he is quite strong but not very tall. I think he is a power player.

This is what my friend recommend to me, so, could you help me to choose one?

IS it right that the most expensive one is the best? But I need a most suitable one.

Also, could you tell me some good online sporting goods stores? I want to order online.

Thanks!

sceptrerad, you'll probably get much better feedback from some of the more experience members of this site, but I'll throw out my two-cents. I would personally present your boyfriend with perhaps a 'home-made' gift certificate valid for a new tennis racquet. Maybe attach the gift certificate to a can of balls for effect or something.

Tell him that he should demo a bunch of frames and find a racquet suitable for his style of play. No chance you will be able to order a racquet online or buy a racquet that will be perfect for him without trying some out. When you are ready, I personally have had great luck with www.tenniswarehouse.com, but there are plenty of good shops.

I guess my final suggestion would be to make sure that he does indeed want a new racquet. If you insist on taking a chance, I guess we could try to help you, but we would need to know what he is currently playing with. (go with the gift card or something - in fact, you can order gift certicates from tenniswarehouse.com as well)

Just my thoughts,
Chris

I agree w/ cmcgovern on this one, TW is a great place for racquets. just a few quick questions, what NTRP rating is he, what racquet does he use now, does he have long loopy strokes or shorts strokes, and finally is he looking for more power or control?
