View Full Version : Help with Stencils / Ink
anyone have your own "custom" designs on your racquet ?? i think its really cool to see different designs, ive seen some stars and circles or even targets, and i was wondering if anyone knew how to do it.
do i have to make my own stencil ?
what is good ink to use ?
what are the steps to use ink / stencil on my racquet ?
will they fade on certain strings ?
thanks

Nubi:
One of my favorite ways to be creative with tennis is to do custom stencils. The radioactive symbol is nearly my trademark. Now to answer your questions:
1. You don't have to make your own stencil. I usually freehand mine. If you settle on a design you really like you may want to make one out of cardboard or something.
2. You can buy stencil ink here: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageACGAMMA-ALLINK.html You can also buy manufacturer's stencils there. Also, sharpies will work as stencil ink, but they are harder to use.
3. You basically just draw on the strings with the ink. Pretty simple.
4. Stencil ink fades fast on poly, but works great on natural gut (or so I've heard) syn. gut and multi's.
I hope this helps.
well right now i already use a sharpie to do my racquet. and uhm
i was planning on using cardboard but not sure on how to cut it, how do i get the exact middle or anything of the racquet? do i just cut cardboard till it fills up the string bed and then make a design from there?
thanks

Yes, that's pretty much what you do.
