So which one would you get, the Gamma X-2($139) or the Klippermate ($150)? And please tell me why. And where can I find the best deal on each brand? I saw a deal on the internet from this place for $143.00 shipped.....

I just checked the klipper usa site and they have factory blemished for $125. I cannot speak to which one is better but I can tell you I have strung over 100 racquets with a Klippermate. Many of those have been in hotel rooms at 11 at night. It can do the job just fine and is very portable. You get very good at using the drop weight after awhile but it does take practice. When you switch string type(syngut to poly) you will have to relearn the process. It might not be as fast as other tensioning mechanisms but you can get consistent results. I would like better clamps but the ones that come with it work just fine and are adjustable if they are gripping too tight. Personally I don't think you could go wrong with either for the price.

I'm too thinking about jumping into the DIY stringing arena, and also considering the Klippermate and the Gamma X-2. The Gamma machine seems to have gone up to $159 (lowest I can find). Where can I find it cheaper (new)? Any recommendations on which to buy and which is easier to use?

Thx

hey if can go over to talk tennis,
tt.tennis-warehouse.com, and go to the stringing machine section and do a search there. there is a lot of info on those 2. i had a gamma x2 and it is great machine for the price. i would get the gamma, the racheting system on the gamma is easy to use.

Good luck getting registered there. I tried a couple of times and got deleted. I have not even posted one message, and got canned. WFT is going on, on that site? But I digressed.

Even though Eagnas has gotten a bad rep with customer service, especially Maxline in particular. They do build a solid machine(s). I'm not saying buy from Maxline, but why not on the used market? A majority of machines are owned by players, and are not used on a daily basis. I've seen at least one or two used units for sale on ebay or criagslist, at least, once a month. If you're lucky you might be able to get a Hawk 126e (electronic tensioner) for about $20, way better than a X-2 or Kippermate.

BTW Kippermates on the used market are $85.

Just my two cents.

I got the same rejection too. What's up with that??? Do I need to be a tennis pro to qualify.

That’s odd. As far as I know their only requirements are a unique user name and password, a valid email address, and an age requirement ( > 13). I’m only guessing here but it could be that, for some reason, their email address validation check wasn’t happy. As I've said, I'm only guessing.

I'm pretty sure I followed all their rules and provided a valid email addr - otherwise I would not have gotten the "Action Required to Activate Membership for Talk Tennis" and rejection notices.

This is the first time I ever got rejected from any discussion forums.

I did a little ‘sniffing’ around and I found one other person that got the same denial that you did. He was rejected because the user name that he registered in some way conflicted with a registered trade mark, company, or entity. I have no idea if this is the case for you but it’s the only thing that I could find, sorry. Good luck. You’d think they’d tell you what the reason was.

On my previous attempts, I got the e-mail to confirm a valid address. Clicked on the link to finish registration. It was sent to a Gmail account, some site don't allow Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc... type accounts. I've seen some questionable usernames, but you can't judge a person by his username.

I don't know what thier criteria is for approving or denying applications.
