View Full Version : Rubber band on top and bottom: tournament-legal?

Is it tournament-legal to tie up a rubber band on the top (not the bottom) of the strings. I've done this for many years: tie up a rubber band on the bottom (as Agassi does), yet I also do it on the top -- to me it always felt even better in vibration dampening. ...On the bottom only is just not enough for me.

I've been told many times that's not in the rules of tennis. Can any expert tell me if it's legal or not?

Hi,

according to the ITF Rules of Tennis (No. 4) you may use a vibration dampening device only outside the pattern of the crossed strings.

So it's fine by the ITF Rules to place a rubber band even on top of the racket.

I think it's not a problem to have more than one device, too.
