Some of you have said that my machine is very good, I'm just curious though, like on a scale of 1-10 how good is it? Is it professional grade? I own a Prince/Ektelon Neos 1000. Thanks guys

Hey Jaypro,
Sorry I've been stringing sticks all day and haven't had time to catch up with you, don't worry after a couple of beers, and not much else to do, I should find the inspiration to look after our current discussions.

Firstly, here is a posting that I wrote to Double faulte last Wednesday, maybe you missed it :

Hey Double-fault,
. . .
What you have said and experienced is great, as long as you keep going in this direction you are going to become a good stringer, you won't even need the plastic bags like Jaypro.
Don't rush into buying a new machine, but when you do, buy a good one. Jaypro certainly made a good choice here, even if it is quite expensive, it is certainly worth the investment.
. . .

I'm sure you recognise my style, you see how well I look after you, you are now part of my preferred references and it helps me a lot. (about the plastic bags check out the postings I have some news for you)

Apart from that, the most important part of a professional quality stringing machine are the clamps. If you could fit a paire of Babolat clamps onto an Eagnas machine you would have a very good machine. The fact that the 2 clamps would cost much more the all of the Eagnas machine (even an electric one) is not really surprising, top quality clamps are high precision tools, not in any way comparable with what we generally find on almost all the cheaper machines.

The clamps on the Ektalon are of very good quality, as is the entire machine. There is no reason at all that you could not do professional quality string jobs on this machine.

I strongly suggest that you also invest in tools of the finest quality, never lend them to anyone, they will become the source of your pleasure to string well. They are the signature of a real Pro, who always has his personal tool kit. It really changes your entire attitude to stringing. Good clamps and good tools are the key to good stringing. Everything else is only of relatively lesser importance (except for the plastic-bags).

Hi Jay Cee
What you think for the next upgrade on my Klippermate clamps?
The best buy for the money.
Thanks Jay Cee
Sorry, did not mean to hijack your thread'

Double-fault,

No sweat man, this board is for all of us, check with Laserfibre if they can sell you a paire of their flying clamps, they are really good, the only problem is that they come in only one size, about 9mm wide btween the two strings to be clamped.

For the 2 mains on each side and first and last crosses you need a significantly wider clamp to successfully finish off, without losing too much tension. I am actually working on a solution for this, because I am also convinced that with an excellent floating clamp system, there are interesting possibilities to upgrade the relatively poor results obtained on portable stringing machines. I will keep you informed.
