Hi,

Finally got the ECO. Thanks to all who helped especially Jaycee.

I got the ECO with the cast alum turntable.

I'll be stringing my two Volkl Cat 4 racquets tonight and need to ask a quick question in tensioning the string.

Is the procedure as follows?

* Raise the Weight Lever to that the lock jaw opens ever so slightly.
* Feed the string under the lock jaw.
* Slowly lower the weight lever until it stops on the table/floor.
* Clamp the strings.

Is that about it?

Just wondering since the manual says something about tensioning the string twice.

Thanks,
eagle

Hi Eagle,
Good news for the machine and you got the right cradle. I'm pleased for you.

Almost got it right : ;)

When you put in the string, it's very easy, the front of the tensioner is "V" shaped and the back end is "rounded" - just pull the string firmly from slightly above and behind the head of the tensioner so that as you take it towards the back, around then towards the front side closer to you so that you come back to the opposite side of the "V" you must keep some constant pressure on the string with the left hand, then with the right hand : lift the weight as high as it can go, the jaws will open up and the string that you are holding in your left hand will easinly slip into place in the center of the jaws. Make sure that it goes around the rounded back piece of the head. When in place the string is in a "U" shape which is then clamped down as you lower the "drop weight".

You should not reach the table, if the weight touches the table then it is too far, the string is too slack, so you need to lift the weight up again, (that is what the manual is mentionning, you may need to tension the string twice before it is correctly tensionned, this is frequent with nylons but would not happen with a mono, a poly or a natural gut), take up the loose end of the string and when the jaws open you need to pull the string in line towards the racquet to tighten up the slack. Once tight, lower the weight again, when stable you can clamp the string in the racquet. Once clamped, lift the weight to top position to release the string, lower the weight to the table and start the cycle again for the following string.

Hope that helps you.
Cheers,
