View Full Version : Mutual Power flying clamps
Mutual Power steel flying clamps FC-101 (http://www.mutualpower.net/st.htm) are they any good?
I think the Gamma or Prince composite flying clamps are better. I had a metal flying clamp at one time that looked just like the Mutual Power and I was never happy with it.

Any particular reason why?
I have Gamma composites. After 4 stringing jobs they have marks left from string and string slips in them really easy. They don't hold tension on mains no matter what.
I had the same problem with the metal floating clamp. The only way I was able to keep it from slipping was to put in little pieces of replacement grip on either side of the clamp. It also seemed to eliminate the need to crank down the clamp which indented the string. The composite looked like it might be slightly textured which I thought would eliminate slipping.

stringway clamps are better. especially the triple one they have. they are more expensive but in the long run, you would be gald that you bought them
have you cleaned the clamps? with a little alcohol on an old shoe string and the slide them thru the clamps and gripper to clean them. this will stop them from slipping thru....the....
you have the clamps to tight, thats why you have the damgaed string. loosen them up a bit and shouldn't have that problem.
