I've just got a gamma x-2 dropweight machine a few questions.

First should i always tension at max tension weight because there is presumably going to be a reasonable loss of tension with flying clamps?

I haven't strung a racquet yet because i'm uncertain of how the drop weight works. Is there any clear information on this, or a video available? I am worried of putting too much tension on the string by letting the weight drop too far.

Any hints and suggestions - and would people say the x-2 is a reasonable machine or are there any known problem areas?

Thanks.

@Grinder
You will have to find the right tension setting that produces the best result for you.
The drop weight works like this: It pulls at the tension you set when the arm is horizontal. A deviation in either way (e.g. dropping down too far) will result in lower tension than set. Small deviations do not matter that much, but you should take care that the arm is almost exactly horizontal when clamping the string.

Grinder,

There is a pretty good tutorial that you can download from silent partner. The address is:

http://www.sptennis.com/stringer.asp

Scroll down to the section on the drop weight machine called the Swing and download the owner's manual. That should give you a pretty good idea of how to get started.
