I am demoing the C10 Pro, and there is a pinging noise, my 320 VO2 pings some times, but nothing like this. The local store here (TennisExpress.com) strings these rackets with NXT 16g strings, don't know how old these strings are, I know they initially string them at the mid recommended +2. It's most noticeable on serves

Just curious if this is normal?

Would this go away?

Should I start hitting the ball with the strings instead of the frame?

Cougar, the C10 Pro has a recommended string tension of 55 +- 4.
Therefore, mid + 2 is 57.
Which in my opinion is too much.

I play with C10 Pro with Volkl Cuclone 18 (thin poly) on the mains and Pacific Tough Gut 16L on the crosses at 48-52, well below the minimum.

The ping depends on the string and tension, so it will certainly go away when you change strings ;)

Cougar, I string my C10s with Cyclone 18g at 54 and have never noticed any ping sounds. The new yellow C10 is nice for a change but the black version with black strings looks intimidating.

Does it look like the previous yellow? Or more like the PB10 mid plus?

I took the advice and have a full set of 18g Cyclones in there. And no ping.... BUT... I have it strung at 35lbs, just got a bug in me to follow that "How Low Can You Go" blog at the TennisWarehouse forum. I have not had any hitting sessions with it yet, I was hoping to hit with one of the juniors at my daughter's tennis class, but no dice, will try again tomorrow. It served nice, but this might be the inherent string properties rather than a byproduct of the low tension.

Complete black (even a black worm dampner) looks so so nice!

Cougar, once you get the type of strings you like and the tension you need I am sure you will be happy with your new C10s. It might take you a few times to get used to the heft of this racquet, but once you you do your opponents need beware. You will also be pleased with the exceptional customer service you will get from the Volkl rep.

I LOVED the way the C10 felt. I had three for about a month but I could never get over the way the grip ended near the throat. It jutted out way to far and God only knows why but I couldn't bear to look at it.

It did have a pinging noise as well but nothing a rubber band tied around the two center mains didn't fix.

just bought another one, I saw one on sale and had to get the backup, have strung that one with Cyclone 18g also, but at 50#'s. And I put my VO2 Max 320 and Dunlop 4d 300 on the sale rack here, but keeping the APDGT for nostalgia..

..that ping was only really noticeable on serve, its gone now though.

loving the serve.
