I may invest in a table-top soon, and I'd like to keep the price in the $600 range. So far, people have advised the Gamma Progression II, or the Alpha Revo 4000. Any comments? I'm a total novice and have never strung before. I'm only looking to string my own racquets. As it is, I get both the racquets I use strung every 6 weeks. Maybe it isn't worth buying a machine for that. Help please.

I don't think you can go wrong with either a Gamma or Alpha machine. If you want more information about the Revo 4000 and what kind of package they may have available, drop Mark Gonzalez of Alpha a note; mark@alphatennis.com .

yeah, i'm also looking into getting a stringer myself. like you, i've never strung in my life - but i have found an impressive machine at eagnas.com called the FLEX 722e. its electronic tensioning, 6 point-support, diamond coated, fixed clamps and all that jazz. this tabletop model is only $349 US dollars. if you're looking for a tabletop machine that is fast and easy to use, does the job as well as the expensive uprights, this is something you could look into. :D

Alpha Revo 4000 is a crank machine Gamma Prog II is a drop weight machine. I think that crank machine is not a constant pull machine why it has some limitations concerning the tension of the strings. I think Alpha Pioneer DC and Gamma Prog II sounds very impressive because the quality and a circular string gripper.
Eagnas Flex 722e is a very low price machine and the quality is not so great. But if you can purchase it from eBay less than 300 dollars it's very impressive. Has anyone experiences about the 722e. I have looked it for a while but I chose Pro's Pro Challenger I with the limitations it has. Only thing in 722e is that turntable. It has made from a plate without any bendings. Is it stiff enought ...
If you are stringing badminton and/or squash rackets too you need extra clamps (smaller ones) which are priced by Gamma very high. The importer here in my country told that they will cost more than 150 euros (~185 dollars).

Wistfulvista:
Check ebay for used stringing machines. I bought an Alpha Blue DC Plus, used, from ebay. It was a great deal. I would also recommend an upright machine instead of a tabletop unless you don't have much floor space. Hope this helps.
