Different string, differnet tension?

If I string with a prince synthetic gut at 54 pounds on a Prince Hornet and then change to Babolet Gut or a multi-filiment string, how should I adjust the tension. I was told all strings play differently at the same tension. Anyone experienced at this?

Why would you like to change the tension and string so that you end up with the same playability? If you want the same configuration then you don't have to switch the string... So my recommendation is to use the same tension on a different string. Exceptions are of course very stiff strings like Aramid (Kevlar,Technora etc.) and thick polyester strings.
