I am looking at buying a tennis racquet for my cousin, but can't figure out which one to choose. Last night while searching online I found a Sports Authority deal at http://www.dealrocker.com, so I visited their site and found some different types of tennis racquets available there. Can anyone help me to understand the difference between performance and player tennis racquets? For me both are same. BTW my cousin is a high school tennis player.
Any help will be appreciated.
Performance racquets are generally lighter and more powerful frames and are geared towards recreational players who do not generate their own power.
Player's racquets are usually heavier and more control oriented. They demand more of the player but offer greater control and consistency. If you're cousin is serious about tennis and improving I would lean towards this type of racquet as it will be something he can stick with as he improves. Then there's tweener frames which combine aspects of both types of frames and generally can be used by anyone.
If you're looking for a good deal for your cousin check the links below.

Wilson K 6 Pro from Costco for $50. Alicefred, if you live in the Los Angeles area, go to Racket Doctor. They have a nice selection of rackets in every price range.
Rackets are a personal preference, either you like the feel or you do not. So going out to buy a racket for someone else not knowing what they like, is like buying them clothes. I hate it when people gift me clothes, most of the time it's not my style or the wrong size, but I digressed.

Careful here, if this person is serious about their play. Racquets sold to stores like Costco, Walmart, Modell, etc, are racquets that did not make spec during production. These are fine for players who just want to bat the ball around, but a disaster for serious players. I cannot tell you how many times we see this problem. Good luck.
