Years back mainly in the 1970's Davis laminated racquets like the Classic and Classic II were lauded as the most advanced and best wooden racquets any player can ask for. When I go back to look through older magazines or archived photos, I can't find one professional that ACTUALLY used one. I see plenty of players from around 1968 to 1980 with Jack Kramers, Wilson Pro Staffs, Fort Maxply's, Bancrofts, etc. BUT WAIT! How come no Davis Classics? Also it's worth noting that if you dig up any old tennis magazines from the 70's, you'll see that the Kramers, Pro Staffs, and Maxplys cost at the time around $40 while the Davis Clasidens (Classic and Classic II) were availble for nearly $60:confused:
