my son recently started stringing his racquets on an e-stringer. he learned how to string a few months ago.
he plays with a babolat racquet. the pro noticed that his racquet looked like it was rounding out a bit. do you know what could be causing this??
thanks for any help. :)
Hmm. Perhaps stringing the crosses too loose. Or, he could be stringing the mains above the recommended range. If he doesn't think so, perhaps his stringer is out of tension adjustment. Make sure that he is following the manufacturers specs for stringing the racquet.

I agree with the previous post. I would like to add that I have used that same model stringer extensively without any problems. Chances are your son is not doing something quite correctly and the previous post points out what (either the mains too tight or the crosses too loose).
If your son thinks he is doing everything OK, then you may want to consider buying or borrowing a tension calibrator to see if your machine is correctly calibrated.

One safety consideration as well. If the racket is warping becuase the mouting clamps are not tight enough or they are slipping, the frame may implode on the machine. Until you figure out the problem, you may want your son to wear safety glasses. Flying graphite can ruin your day if you are leaning over the frame when it blows.
Just FYI - I learned this from experience. i got interupted by a customer once and did not secure the top of the frame to the machine as tight as I should have. The darn thing imploded on the third main string and threw some grpahite/fiberglass splinters into my face. luckily. one hit my eyes. Moral is...make sure the mount is correct!!!!!

As mentioned, incorrectly mounting the frame is the #1 cause of racket damage while stringing. Low tensioning would cause no effect on frame shape, but overtensioning would.
Make very sure that once your son has gotten outside the throat on his main strings, that he is pulling them no more than two on side, then alternating to the other side.
It's normal to see a frame flex while restringing, so imagine the stress on it if a stringer strings all the way from the middle to the outside without alternating and going in the other direction.
If he has any questions, email me. I'm a certified Master Racket Technician and a stringing instructor, would be glad to help.
