Just a little question... When you start stringing a tennisracket what should you do?

Isn't it that you start out with two mains (on on the right side of the middle and one on the left side). One of the mains, which are both loose now, should be pinched so you can tighten the other one with the machine right? So say that I start with the right mains (cause I'd like to use the left side for both left mains and crosses), I would pinch the rightmiddle main and tighten the leftmiddle one right?

Anyone who might help me out :D? I always tend to forget the beginning of stringing :S

Hi Bart009,

it would be important to know what machine you are using.

If you have two fixed clamps then you would clamp one of the first mains (say the right main) and put tension on the "left" middle main.

Make sure that you leave enough space between the first fixing clamp and the frame, because you need it to put the second fixed clamp near the frame if you fix the "second left middle main"...

Thread the first right side and first left side mains through. If there are 4 or 8 holes in the throat, start from the head. If there are 6 holes in the throat, start there. Put one fixed clamp about 5mm inside the frame on 1R main and lock it in place. Now pull tension on 1L main. You will need to raise the clamp head on the clamp with one hand while you pull tension with the other one. Then clamp off on 1L main as close to the frame as possible. Release the tension head and thread/tension 2L main and clamp off inside the other clamp on 1R main. Release the string from the tension head. Now tension 1R main. Release the clamp as you begin to pull tension on it. Reposition the clamp to the tension head end of the string and clamp off. Now do 2R main and clamp off. Now both clamps are side by side close to the frame. You can now do a couple on each side alternatiing as you go until the mains are done.
