i was stringing a stick tonight, and as i was about to do a 1 piece job, a light bulb went off (I can see you rolling your eyes JayCee) when i did a 2 piece job the other day, JayCee said to measure 9 lengths for the mains, i did that but it was a pain in the ass and i came up short so...tonight before i threaded the long side on the bottom for the 1st cross, i thought "why dont i take a chance, cut the string and do a 2 piece job?" so i did and it worked! it was a 40 ft length of string so i knew I'de be cutting it close but i had plenty left over. this will be my new method for 2 piece string job. i like 2 piece better anyway, i think its faster, and i have heard its safer and easier on frames to go from top to bottom...I'll be waiting for your sarcastic reply JayCee :p

Hey JayPro
I have not do any one piece string job yet, I have been following the measurement on the chart to cut out the main and the cross, they are very accurated.

Hey Jaypro,

You really got me confused :

"measure 9 lengths for the mains, i did that but it was a pain in the ass and i came up short"

I have never been short, were you short on both side when you tied off the mains ?

Just to be sure that you are not, take the 22 feet (9 lengths) and thread the 2 ends into the 2 eyelets each side of the centre of the racquet.

If you have 6 holes in the throat start from the throat and pull through the 2 center holes in the head, if the frame has 8 holes in the throat, start from the head and pull through the 2 center holes in the throat.

One way or the other pull the 2 end all the way together, like that you will start with exactlly the same length of string for the right side as for the left side of the racquet. You will not be short. ;)
"so...tonight before i threaded the long side on the bottom for the 1st cross,"

Sorry I just can't figure out what you have done here, if it is a great new method that you have found then I am very interested, please give me all the details so that I can assimilate it correctly.

Nice to see that you are back onto string postings mate, but keep Veri with us, she's lots of fun as well. :D

Have a great day, if you don't have a new light bulb, ask Veri if she can lend you a candle.

I measured 9 lengths, strung then mains and came up short, so itook them out, and strung them with the other piece of string and it worked fine. but tonight, as i finished the long side of the mains, i cut the string tied off and did a 2 piece job with the remaining string. I only cut to where i needed to to make a knot for the long side knot, then proceeded with the crosses. understand?

Jaypro,

That makes sense, maybe when you measured the 9 lengths you picked up the wrong piece for the mains, we all make mistakes after about 10 beers.

The 2nd solution worked well, but it's a bit long, in the future just get your lengths right and you won't have to do that.

Don't forget to increase the tension by 8 lbs. on each of the last 2 mains before you tie off, "Parnell's signature knot", wow, you are becoming knowledgable, the first signs are showing, still a long way to go, but I'm confident, you will definitely get there one day. ;)

Bye
