hey everyone,

I just purchased a Gamma X 6-FC drop weight stringer. This will be my first time stringing EVER so I will be learning from scratch. I bought the machine off of Ebay so I don't know if it will come with the tools and supplies that normally come with it when you order new from a dealer like tennis warehouse or tennis express. My question is, what tools are necessary to make sure that the job gets done efficiently and effectively?

It looks like bent nose pliers, needle nose pliers and diagonal cutters can be purchased in a set. I did see the Gamma pathfiner awl (is this different from a normal awl?). Also saw a "starting clamp", is that necessary for stringing? Any help or advice for a first timer will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the boards. To answer your question, you will need all of those tools if you want to get proficient at stringing; especially if you start stringing for other people. The pathfinder awl is a thinner version of a standard awl which allow you to pull a string through a tight grommet (use with caution). There are a lot of instructions on this board so read up and happy stringing.
