i have a hyper hammer 6.3 and dont have a clue how to string. i know i am suppose to start from the head and i dont have a clue where to go from there. am i suppose to go from one side of the starting point or do both at the same time??? how do i tie it off on the side where i didnt do the crosses?
Also how does a flying clamp work and how do you put it on the strings?
Hi,
Below is from the wilson.com website:
Hyper Hammer 6.3 Oversize 110
String Tension : 53-63 lbs.
String Length : 38' (ss: 10') or (20' M's and 18' X's)
String Pattern : 18 x 19
Start Main : at Head. Mains skip 8H, 10H, 8T and 10T. Tie off M's at 7T.
One Piece : Start X's at Bottom at 8T. Top X: 8H. Tie off X's at 6H.
Two Piece : Start X's at Top at 8H. Bottom X: 8T. Tie off X's at 6H and 14T.
Have fun.

I'm afraid the cryptic stringing pattern might not really help the stringing beginner patrick922.
Patrick, maybe a look at http://www.keohi.com/tennis/laserfibre/misc.htm (on eagle's beautiful website) could give you an impression.
Did you check out the stringing guide available on Stringforum? It explains the stringing process with fixed clamps, but nevertheless you should get the idea.

i have jus started stringing an this cryptic stuff may aswell be in chinese what do they meen, are there any sites which explain were 8H an 14T etc etc are located on a racket:confused:
ss: short side (for 1-piece stringing)
M's: mains
X's: crosses
Grommets are numbered starting from the longitudinal axis of the racquet.
H: head
T: throat
Since the racquet is symmetric, there are always two grommets with the same name.
Example: The grommets for the two central mains at the head of the racquet are 1H.
Mains skip 8H means that you string 7 mains at each side of the racquet, then the next grommet is a cross string grommet, so you skip it and use the next one (9H) for the next main. In the above example, 10H is also a cross string grommet, and since you know that your racquet has 18 mains, you use 11H for the last main string.

Patrick--
I strongly suggest you go to a tennis shop and ask whomever does the stringing to let you watch and learn. Maybe he/she will even guide you through the process. I don't believe racket stringing is a skill you can learn simply by reading a manual.

I agree. I got help from a mate but also a dvd came with my stringing machine and i learnt it from that. It would take time but after doing 2-3 rackets you get the hang of it and it takes you less time to do a racket after
