View Full Version : Which is best??
Hello,
1/ Which is best: cord in 4 knots or in 2.
2/ Should one decrease the tension for the faults?
Thank you for avence
:)
Alain
Hi,
to question 1: It's recommended that you string the crosses from head to throat. If you end up with the mains at the throat you have to tie 4 knots, otherwise you can string with 2 knots.
I didn't understand question 2...
Joe
Thank you for your answer,
In fact, my second question is to know what is best:
soft + the mains or the crosses? Or apply the same tension?...
Which is the difference according to you.
Saddened for my English which is not very good.
Thank you Alain
The theory tells us that the crosses should be strung softer than the mains. This is to achieve an equal string bed; using less tension on the crosses you compensate for their shorter length compared to the mains.
But you can also string with the same tension - if it feels good to you then it's fine. Just a matter of individual taste.

Actually, the crosses will have less tension if you string them at the same tension as the mains, because of friction and other factors.
