As I failed to find acceptable online tennis equipment stores based in the UK, I would like to ask the visitors from the UK where they buy their tennis string.

Thanks!

Hi

I buy my strings from both a small shop in Belfast, N Ireland which sells Wilson and Gamma strings. But I also buy them from tennis-tech (www.tennis-tech.co.uk (http://www.tennis-tech.co.uk)) and www.cordatec.com. (http://www.cordatec.com.) Both only sell their own brands. I have seen several reviews of tenistech strings in the forum and I bought my machine (ML100) from Tennis tech based on some reviews I read in the Machine forum. Cordatec also sell grips and other acessories for stringing etc. Neither have facilities to order online unfortunatly and I have to order by phone, but this hasnt proved to be a problem yet. Codratec's website is very lacking in content and you have to e-mail to get them to send you a catalogue to find out prices etc, but at least it came within a day. I also am still looking for a decent online ordering site in the UK. The best I have found so far is the LTAs (Lawn Tennis Association) site. The site is www.lta.org.uk, (http://www.lta.org.uk,) but the shop can be found directly by going to http://www.sweatband.com/sweatband/lta/?&rid=22.
This is particularly good as I get the 20% discount as I am a member of the LTA.

Great site by the way. Keep it up. I must try to get some reviews of my strings into the forum soon.

Chris,
Good to read you have been getting strings from Tennis-Tech. I seem to be the only one posting reviews of TT strings so I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on them.

As well as Tennis Tech I also use W&D Strings who supply the well known brand names at reasonable prices - including Luxilon (only UK supplier, I think!). They are not on the Web, but can be contacted on 0800 068 7120 or sales@watdon.com.

Yes, sorry Roger, must get around to posting some opinions!

ATS sports in the USA is also very good - though only if you are buying in reasonably large quantities. I tend to buy around 100-150 sets at a time and this makes the cost of shipping to the UK per set minimal. However, you should also be aware that UPS will charge you as Cash on Delivery for the VAT, duty and brokerage charge, until you set up an account at which stage they will invoice you for this. Even given all this, I have worked out that for the big name strings, such as Prince and Wilson, this way is still alot cheaper (more than 50% in some cases) than any of the other UK shops, including W&D and Gefen - both of which I have used for grips and tools etc.

are places like www.pwp.com (http://www.pwp.com) and www.prodirecttennis.co.uk (http://www.prodirecttennis.co.uk) crap then?

i've never bought strings myself before so i wouldn't know, but they've both been good for rackets, shoes, balls
