hello,

I was using Prince Synthetic Duraflex Gut 16G and now I want change to 17G string for more spin and better feel without sacrifice durability. I'm thinking to use polyester based Tecnifibre Spinfire 17G. But by reading some articles, I got opposite opinion on tension change:

The article on tennis-warehouse.com said you should increase 3-5 lbs tension when you change from a synthetic gut to Polyester string, because polyester string has a high initial tension loss.

But some other articles said that polyester string is stiffer than synthetic gut, so you should string it with 10% less tension to get the same feel.

I wonder is there anyone who has used both Prince synthetic Duraflex Gut and Tecnifibre Spinfire and could tell me what the difference between them and what should I do with the tension?

Thanks a lot!

Hi victorx, I have used Tecnifibre Spinfire and it holds its tension quite well for a poly. Therefore I would recommend to string 3 lbs softer than the Prince SynGut DF.

Thanks Joe.

Currently I'm using Prince TT warrior OS with 60 or 61 lbs tension. So if I use Spinfire on it, would you suggest the same tension, say 58 lbs, for both main and cross? Or I should use different tension?

Well, you're open to try the JayCee method, I can recommend it for advanced players, you will gain control. Try 56 lbs in the mains and 60 lbs in the crosses.
