Default Balls!

Okay, so I appreciate this site is all about us sad people who think tennis racket stringing is cool (It is!), but what about balls? Or, more precisely, their durability? I'm currently using Dunlop Fort Plus but find they only last about 8 or 9 sets maximum on artificial grass before they need changing. Has anyone got similar experiences or could recommend longer lasting ones?
Thanks,
Roger R

I have used Dunlop Fort balls alot as well and found the same problem. I would recomment Tretorn Plus, or Tretorn Micro X balls. They are harder and faster, but I find them ideal for artificial grass. I wouldnt use them on hard courts though.

I still use dunlop fort balls often for matches, but they can only really be used for one match before they are only any good for practice.

Roger, 8 or 9 sets?

If you're getting that much play out of a ball, unless you're hitting the ball under 25mph, you're getting a lot of wear out of them!! How many sets do you expect??

However, I like the Dunlop Abzorber by far the best. The most consistent and longest lasting ball for all around surfaces. It's wicked on hard courts.

Hi!
I play the Dunlop Championship or the Dunlop Fort ball and I am quite happy with it. Forget Tretorn pressureless balls, because the control is lousy and you will feel the pain in your arm.

Howy

Hi, I use the Tretorn microX and they are excellent, Very lively and fast. I play a very aggresive baseline game, mostly on hard court. The other pressureless balls, Gamma, Pro lite, all stink.

Roger,

I have spent a lifetime playin tennis at most every level of competition and I agree with the discussant who said if you are happy with the feel and the balls last 8 or 9 sets you should stick with them. I would say that is an extremelly long duration, even for artificial grass.

With the price of tennis balls in the UK and Europe I can understand why you're looking for the most durable ones. We here in the states are spoiled, paying $1.98US a can, so getting 3 sets out of them is great! So my suggestions would not even begin to help you folks overseas! Best of luck in your search!
