Silent Partner Jazz
Silent Partner Jazz

Evaluations of the Silent Partner Jazz:

Pearce, June 17, 2002:

Place of purchase: Silent Partner (www.sptennis.com)

   Date of purchase: 4/2002

   Warranty: 5 years

   Price: $599

   Equipment:

Manual lockout tensioner, six-point mounting system, double action swivel clamps, upright machine

   Experiences:

The Jazz has been excellent in my experience. The mounting is rock solid and it is easy to install the racquet if you follow instructions. The tensioner works smoothly and was accurate when I got the machine. I tested the calibration after 40 racquets and it is still accurate. The clamps work well too. The base lever takes about half a turn to lock.
There are many choices of lockout machines. I bought the Jazz because it seemed to offer the best quality under $800 and now I am sure of it.

Ted Culin, December 8, 2004:

Place of purchase: Silent Partner (www.sptennis.com)

   Date of purchase: 12/2004

   Warranty: 5 years

   Price: $599

   Equipment:

Spring tensioner, dual action swivel clamps, 6 internal mounting points, upright. I also purchased the throatless racquet adapter.

   Experiences:

I'm new to stringing, before buying this stringer I strung a couple of racquets on an Ektelon H and decided that swivel clamps were necessary for stringing my fan pattern racquetball racquets. Since my Jazz arrived I've strung about 5 racquets on it (all mine) and have gotten down to about 45 minutes/frame. The Ektelon DPR is a challenge to string and the throatless racquet adapter is necessary. That adapter gave me much better access to the throat than the H model. I had to calibrate the tensioner when it arrived, but that isn't very hard. SP did omit the 2.5mm allen wrench necessary for this, but I had one around from another tool box that worked fine. SP has shipped a replacement. The string clamps work well and the tensioner is accurate. I would recommend this machine to anyone.

Alex, April 29, 2007:

Place of purchase: Silent Partner (www.sptennis.com)

   Date of purchase: 04/2007

   Warranty: 5 years

   Price: $599

   Equipment:

Lockout tensioner (manual); inside 6 point mounting system; upright; double action swivel clamps

   Experiences:

The Jazz is an excellant machine. It was delivered quickly, and was easy to set up. Everything is easy to use, and the manual that came with it is invaluable.
I haven't been able to use it yet though, because there was a problem with the shipping. The crank got bent, and so I'm waiting to have that replaced. Other than that, it's great! I can't wait to use it.
