Stringway M50

Stringway M50

Evaluations of the Stringway M50:

Roger Ravenscroft, December 24, 2001:

Place of purchase: Tennis Tech, Northwood, England, UK

   Date of purchase: 2001

   Warranty: 10 years

   Price: N/A

   Equipment:

Drop weight table top model, 5 point mounting, T98 double action glide bar clamps.

   Experiences:

So far very impressed. Having never strung before the machine is easy to use and the results on my own rackets (Wilson Hyper Hammer 2.3) excellent. Also worthy of note the first class service from Tennis Tech of Northwood, Middlesex and, in particular, the MD, Peter Colvin

John Turbervill, February 5, 2002:

Place of purchase: Tennis Tech, London

   Date of purchase: 2001

   Warranty: 10 years?

   Price: $700

   Equipment:

Drop weight table top model, 5 point mounting, sliding clamps, all tools included.

   Experiences:

I agree with the other submission on this machine. It is very well made and easy to use. I am a first time stringer, and have now strung about 50 rackets with no problems at all. The service from Tennis Tech is amazing - Peter Colvin drove 120 miles to deliver the machine and spent all day at my house teaching me how to use it, all for an extra £25.

A. Love, August 26, 2002:

Place of purchase: Tennis Tech, Northwood

   Date of purchase: 2001

   Warranty: 10 years

   Price: $750

   Equipment:

Drop weight table top model, 5 point mounting, single action clamps

   Experiences:

Generally the machine is very easy to use and certainly the easiest drop weight machine on the market, as the bar does not have to be horizontal. It is difficult to pull the central mains though as the mounting system blocks off the path to the tension head. The single action clamps are very easy to use but are not really robust enough, they move slightly under tension.
When I bought the machine I was given free on-site tuition, but most of the things that I was told were wrong and I would highly recommend attending a stringing course with a MRT.
The machine is very good for those looking for something portable but is probable more suited to being a back up to either a Ektelon or a Babolat.

D. Hole, April 19, 2003:

Place of purchase: Tennis Tech, London

   Date of purchase: 04/2003

   Warranty: 10 years

   Price: $695

   Equipment:

Drop weight, table top, floating clamps

   Experiences:

My first ever attempt at stringing a tennis racquet. 100% successful with a Wilson Triad 2 Rollers, 125 sq. inch. I agree with all the positive comments already made. I found the literature accompanying the machine a little confusing but three short phone calls to Peter Colvin (the managing Director) sorted out all my problems - even though my final call was on Good Friday morning!!). On site instruction was offered but owing to my impatience and the impending Bank holiday weekend, I managed without. A minor improvement would be a locking device to assist with the tensioning of the cross strings.

Julio, August 2, 2003:

   Place of purchase: Laserfibre

   Date of purchase: 07/2003

   Warranty: 10 years

   Price: $549

   Equipment:

Drop weight, table top, 4 point mounting system with T-bar, T98 double action clamps. Comes with an assortment of Laserfibre strings (you get to choose them), needle nose pliers and diagonal cutters.

   Experiences:

Great machine. Everything is self-explanatory. Awesome costumer service from Tim Sullivan of Laserfibre. Mounting the racquet for the first time is a little tricky, because the instructions aren't that clear. The drop weight can be at any angle and still be pulling the right tension, however, on the first couple of racquets, there will be a lot of double pulls as you have to take out all the slack before tensioning the string. The clamps are very fast and gentle on the string. They do move a little under tension when clamping the crosses, but I don't know if this is normal because my previous machine was an ATS SS II. The only thing I would change on this machine is the T-bar and upgrade to the other hold down system that they offer. Overall, this machine produces professional quality string jobs and I highly reccomend it to anyone.
