| If you are considering either NXT or NXT Tour, I'd recommend X-One Biphase ahead of those. Very good string, good tension maintenance. Durability is the downside as you will get fraying early (as known from gut and NXT) but it still maintains itself pretty well. |

This is a great string indeed. Extremely powerful and great control/consistency... but, this is not suitable for a net player. The feel and touch aspect is simply not good enough. I've hit my strongest groundstrokes ever and with great precision with this string; simultaneously, my touch shots around the net have suffered a lot. I don't know if it's related to the string but a while after switching to this string the inside of my elbow seems to have become sore. This had never happened before.
To demonstrate the power aspect: I normally play with a Völkl C-10 98 sq.in. / Tecnifibre NRG2 setup at 55 lbs. The X-One Biphase was strung on my C-10 93 sq.in. at just over 60 lbs. Despite much higher string tension and the smaller headsize, my groundstrokes were comparatively explosive, I never imagined I could hit so hard!
If it offered greater feel and touch at the net, and if my net game hadn't suffered, this could be the perfect string, at least next to natural gut. Next time I will seek an alternative string. |
