This is a belated review (though I did re-test). This string is one of three I currently use, and a favorite.
Stringing: No issues, it came from a new reel and had little coil memory.
Play: SPPP "fits" my style. It has just enough power, control, feel and comfort. Where it excels for me is spin, I often see bits of fuzz in the air when I look up from contacting a groundie. The 17L provides a friendly feel that I can only categorize as that... it does what I expect of it. Typically this string is in at least 1 of my teaching/playing sticks. And, beyond all that... it looks pretty cool (if hybrid with a multi, it reminds me of an orange and vanilla ice-cream treat).
Conditions: I played with Wilson US Open balls on indoor hard courts (both standard for me). Started using this product in the summer and have had wonderful results on har-tru as well.
In sum: If you like to hit a heavy, spinning ball (and can, LOL) and wish your racquet to play the same each day - try this string. In my opinion it's a very well balanced co-poly. I'm forever having students trying to trade me sets of Lux and PHT for lengths of SPPP! That says a lot! |

| The limited comparison menu had me choose the same string, in a thicker gauge but if Topspin Cyber Blue 1.25 had more spin, and a bit more control these two could be brothers. The choice is yours... more pop -> Topspin Cyber Blue, more control and spin -> SPPP 1.18. |

The SPPP wasn't so bad. I just don't like the color at all and the price is not too low. There are better polys on this price level.
For example, the MSV Co-Focus or Focus Hex provide a much nicer feel. The SPPP seems to maintain its tension better than the MSV strings. But overall I prefer the MSV strings.
Nevertheless a solid poly which I would recommend to try. |
