I'm rating the Pro RedCode again. I've never been that wrong on any other string concerning the power. Maybe because I used a single package before and now I used a reel, I don't know, but the string is much livelier than I had thought before. I've been told it was made as an alternative to Alu Power and you have to lower the string tension just like with the Luxilons. Now I'm using 26/24.5 kp on my Völkl and 25/24 on my Wilson ROK. This gives me optimal playing characteristics. I could never string the Alu Power Rough 1.25 that tight on these two frames due to wrist pain I get from the Alu Power, although it was the best string I've had in my racquet until now. Since I don't get any pain from the Pro RedCode and the price is reasonable, it remains my standard string. For me it comes second place right after Alu Power Rough 1.25.

String Luxilon Monotec Zolo 16L

The Luxilon Zolo does not only look like the Big Banger XP, its playing characteristics are also identical except that the Zolo is softer. The Big Banger XP is a great string but it caused me pain in the wrist, which only happens with stiff strings. Surprisingly, I didn't have any pain with this string. The tension stability seems to be good as well. For example, I had to string the IsoTour 3000 at 26/25 kp to get the same control. Furthermore, the Monotec Zolo is the only string among the rather basic polys I've tried so far (Kirschbaum Super Smash, Babolat Polymono, IsoTour 3000) where there's almost no string movement. Great string for the price.

An extraordinary string, there's nothing negative to say about it. The people who describe it as stiff or wire-like should string it at lower tensions, because then the stiffness of the Alu Power is reduced and its qualities show up, like all Luxilon strings. I exaggerated a bit and should string one lb tighter since the string does provide quite a bit power. I haven't tried the smooth version but the spin potential of the Alu Power Rough is unbelievable. It still enhances the great control that's already there. I will buy it again despite the high price because as a recreational player I can use this string for months.

To me these Big Bangers are great strings - expensive but luckily I'm not a string breaker. I'm curious how long they will last (I've got the Ace on my other racquet and it looks so fragile...).

I've wanted to try a Luxilon string for a long time, but I've had trouble interpreting the ratings because many people say something and many other people say the contrary about the same string. You have to have a lot of experience with strings to be able to rate them. Finally I selected the Big Banger Ace due to the 18/20 string pattern of my new Voelkl Tour 10 V-Engine. The string was really stiff for its 1.12mm, and after two hours I was pretty annoyed about the tension of 24/23 kg and that I didn't go for 23/22. But when playing again after 4 days it felt better - maybe because I'm using this type of string for the first time and needed to adapt to it. Well the control, spin and tension stability are great and the strings really don't move (couldn't imagine that up to now). I've also tried the Big Banger Original Rough 1.30 in the meantime, and it's also excellent. Luxilon strings are expensive on the one hand, but they definitely open new dimensions in the field of tennis strings.
