Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
 (3 hrs.)
No problems during stringing.
The first few hits already revealed the advantages of this string: control and spin. Additionally, the Hexonic provides a very direct feel. I would have wished for more power. Towards the end of the string's life, the strings began to move, which I didn't mind too much though. With its 3 hours of durability it is on an average scale for me. Overall it reminded me a lot of the Tecnifibre Pro RedCode, however with significantly better spin potential (in fact I don't recall the Pro RedCode providing any spin at all).
Very solid string!

String Kirschbaum Super Smash Orange 1.23
Test Conditions Tension Racquet
57/53 lbs Head YouTek IG Radical Pro (MP, 16/19)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
 (1.75 hrs.)
What did I expect from the new version of the Super Smash, probably the most used polyester string of the past decade? I was guessing that the Super Smash Orange was softened with co-polyester but should still be classified as a control string.
These expectations were met. Feel was nice from the start, somehow dampened. I really liked the solid feedback. Very good control. Spin potential was good so I felt confident on my forehand. Power was also good but not too much.
Unfortunately the string did not survive two full hours of play. There was significant notching after 75 minutes, and 20 minutes later it snapped.
If I was to switch to this string, I'd need to try the thicker version. The great feel (at least for me - some might say it feels "dead" - definitely more lively than Babolat Hurricane Feel) and control are the top features of this string.
Thanks to Sandra Kirschbaum for the test string!

String Solinco Barb Wire 16L
Test Conditions Tension Racquet
57/53 lbs Head YouTek IG Radical Pro (MP, 16/19)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
 (3.5 hrs.)
I was curious to test the Barb Wire since all Solinco strings I had tried before provided a very direct feedback. The Barb Wire did not disappoint me. It also provided a very direct feel, resulting in great control, which I find favorable. Hardly any scattering. The profile (which is similar to Signum Pro Tornado) does wear with time but lasts relatively long. My personal favorite tension is 26/24 kg. At this tension the Barb Wire still provides sufficient power despite the great control. There are definitely more powerful strings, however I prefer control strings. Concerning comfort there are softer strings but I didn't have any issues due to the stiffness.
Conclusion: Great string which keeps its texture for a relatively long time and ranks high in my personal list with its 3.5 hours of durability. Worth testing!

String Signum Pro Thunderstorm 1.24
Test Conditions Tension Racquet
57/53 lbs Head YouTek IG Radical Pro (MP, 16/19)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
 (2.5 hrs.)
With its dark purple color, the Thunderstorm is definitely an eye-catcher. The string provided balanced characteristics from the start and played very nice. It felt softer than the Solinco Barb Wire but stiffer than Babolat RPM Blast which I played in parallel on my other two frames. The Thunderstorm is an allround poly with good performance in all categories. Only durability is a bit below average for me with 2.5 hours. Also the texture wore rather quickly which is typical for most profiled strings. A very solid string with a distinctive color.

String Tecnifibre Poly Code 1.25
Test Conditions Tension Racquet
57/57 lbs Dunlop Biomimetic 300 (MP, 16/19)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
 (3 hrs.)
I tested both the 1.25 and 1.275 mm gauges.
Strung on my Stringway constant pull drop weight machine, ATW method. Typical poly behavior. Did not stretch much but was easy to work with. DT measured with ERT 300 after stringing: 38.5 (1.25) and 39 (1.275).
The first hits with this new Tecnifibre poly were surprisingly nice. The string provided good power with excellent control. Very good touch on impact, I was really happy from the start.
But then after 25-30 minutes the characteristics changed dramatically. The mains started to move a lot, which is rather unusual for modern co-polys. The sweetspot shrunk with time and there were a lot of vibrations on off-center hits. I had to hit really clean to be able to continue playing this string. Control was almost constant during the entire test period. Power increased a bit (probably due to the tension loss) but the string lost touch and feel. The Poly Code seemed to get stiffer and less forgiving the longer I played with it.
After a total of 3 hours of play (1 singles, 1 doubles, 1 practice) the string broke in the center, showing significant notching, which was already evident after the first hour of singles play. The 1.275 mm version lasted 30 minutes longer in the same playing environment.

The best feature of this string was the consistent control I got. The testers were asked to look specifically at the durability. But if there is already significant notching after 1.5 hours of play, I cannot give a positive rating for this aspect. This string may be better suitable for hard flat hitters than for heavy topspin players like me. Unfortunately the Poly Code did not provide many good characteristics for my game. Due to the lack of durability it did not meet my expectations and may not meet other customers' expectations either if a long durability is promised.

Thanks a lot for the test opportunity, I really enjoyed the test even though I could not give a more positive rating.

This string surprised me. The string bed did not come out as stiff as I had expected. Good power and very good control are the main characteristics of this string besides its spin potential. Very consistent performance. Durability is on a normal level with 3.5 hours in a 16x19 string pattern for a 1.26 mm string at 26/25 kg.
Overall positively surprised!

String Pacific XCite 16L
Test Conditions Tension Racquet
56/54 lbs Head YouTek Prestige MP (MP, 18/20)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
 (7.5 hrs.)
What a powerful string! If you ask me what the new generation of polyester strings should look like, I'd say that it should feel soft but still crisp, provide a good balance of power and control, good spin potential and tension stability. The Pacific XCite successfully unites these characteristics.
For me this is the most powerful string after the Babolat Pro Hurricane and Tecnifibre Black Code, and a tad more powerful than the recent Signum Pro Firestorm. I had the impression that the XCite has a built-in depth limiter so I was able to consistently hit close to the baseline, even on fast-paced shots that were hit in the sweetspot.
Spin potential was very good for a non-textured poly. Tension stability comes close to the Signum Pro quality. And durability is very high in my personal ranking with 7.5 hours of play.
Still I'm not switching to this string due to the x-tremely high price for a reel. Even if I cannot find a better string on the market today, I'd never pay so much money for a reel.
Nevertheless - great new string from Pacific!

The Beast XP played almost by itself. It seemed like I had no effort to get the ball to the other side. The string provides tremendous power and a very soft feel. I enjoyed punching the ball a lot. However durability was not so good with only 5 hours indoors. This is not sufficient considering the price. Also you need to get used to the bright green color...

String Signum Pro Firestorm® 1.25
Test Conditions Tension Racquet
53/51 lbs Head YouTek Prestige MP (MP, 18/20)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
 (8.5 hrs.)
As soon as I can rate the durability, I will update my review.
Played with the Firestorm for about 4 hours now and I'm very surprised. This string is the first one since a long time that really convinced me. It has tremendous power, so I personally (!) would not string 10% less as Signum Pro always recommends but rather increase tension due to the high acceleration. When you hit in the sweetspot, the ball is launched off the stringbed like a rocket, but you almost feel no shock, which feels great. Control, especially depth control, is sufficient. No arm problems. Spin was about the same compared to my reference string, Pacific Poly Force. Perhaps not as much spin as with spin-oriented polys, but you can definitely generate nice spin with this string. I really enjoyed flat strokes and slice.
As soon as the string snaps I will provide an update to this review.
Thanks Signum Pro for providing the test string!

Update: The Firestorm broke after 8.5 hours of indoor play. I hardly noticed any tension loss. Strangely the string felt a bit spongy in the beginning but after 1-1.5 hours the spongy feeling was gone. As I wrote, great allround string which could become my new standard string due to the affordable price.

The comparison relates to Pacific Poly Force. These strings play very similar. Only difference is in the feel department - the Firestorm feels a bit "spongy" and softer. Otherwise almost identical characteristics.

String Tecnifibre X.Code 16
Test Conditions Tension Racquet
56/54 lbs Head YouTek Prestige MP (MP, 18/20)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
 (2.5 hrs.) n.a.
Compared to the first prototype (blind test on Stringforum.net), this version does not have a silver stripe any more.
No problems during stringing. Rather little stretch.
I remember the prototype playing soft with lots of feedback. The new X.Code seemed somewhat stiffer to me. I had used the prototype on a 16x20 string bed at 26/26 kg while I played the X.Code on a 18x20 string bed at 25.5/24.5 now.
Control was fantastic, power was limited. Feedback was nice, just a bit stiffer compared to the prototype version. Spin potential was good, which I didn't expect from a multifilament. I'd say from its characteristics it's 60% multifilament and 40% poly.
However I was surprised by the poor durability. After 2.5 hours the X.Code broke in the center of the stringbed without showing significant signs of wear. Indoors! That's not acceptable for this price.
Overall a good string which however is neither an alternative for string breakers nor for the typical poly player.
