Default Best poly string and tension for Babolat Pure Storm GT

Hi everyone, I just registered myself hoping to find some good advice about the best string and tension that would suit my Babolat pure storm gt. I switch to this reacquet in September and I'm a 4.5 tennis player. I have been trying different poly string like Babolat pro hurricane tour 17g, Kirschbaum pro line2 17g and I'm actually using Sigmund pro poly plasma 17g at 50lbs, yet none of them seem to work as I would like. Could you guys help me to figure this out?

Thanks
Tmano

This is really tough question to answer it all depend`s from your style of play,

what player you are hard court, clay court,

are you serve-voley ,baseliner ,does you use semi western, full western grip,

how hard you hit the ball,

what power you`ll need or control,

In the end maybe you`ll need hybrid setup combination of poly and multifilament

Wink

Generally speaking a soft mono should fit your racquet, but I agree with icko: we need more details

Red face

Hey, thanks for the replies and I hope you guys had a nice Thanksgiving......I had so much turkey!!! anyway, I play on hard courts here in the US and I'm mainly a baseline player yet I like to play at net as well following a good attack/approach. I believe I'm a semi western forehand grip and and I hit the ball pretty hard using topspin and flat depending on necessity or if I go for the winner. I don't know if this is important but I'm also two handed back hand....my previous racquet was the Babolat aeropro drive cortex which had too much topspin for me and it was strung at 55 with pro hurricane tour 17.....however, 55lbs seemed to be a good compromise for me at that time. What I noticed about the the current string Sigmund poly plasma is that I can't generate as much power as I would like during the serve....it's strung at 50lbs.

I know it's kind hard to give advices about the string tensions and strings but analyzing your ideas and my thought I hope to get the best result....last thing I prefer a full bed of poly.

Thanks so much I really appreciate

Manolo

Ok,

Based on your skill level

you are club player that means ntrp 3.0-4.5 ,

-don`t generate spin ,flat shot,
-you lack power in game,
-you play on hard court,
-control does not matter,

Like good approach on voley shot and improve your game,

Your choice would be,

Multifilament : tecnifibre biphase, klip eaccelerator, weiss cannon explosive, signum pro micronite ,msv soft touch or control, synthetic gut

Or hybrid polyester with multifilament;

Like wilson enduro, signum pro poly plasma ,pro line II on mains with wilson synthetic gut on crosses,

You should strung you crosses +2lbs higher then mains.Tension max for you is 22-24kg mains ,cross 24-26kg.

Regards,

thanks icko81, yes I forgot to say that I was rated 4 ntpr player even though I wasn't shining with the aeropro drive; now 4.5 for sure with a more player racquet. I didn't mention control since I don't think I need more, I mean there is plenty of control with the pure storm gt racquet. About power, I can generate power and and spin as I need it's only the serve that is lacking a bit. However, sometime and you are correct I fell like I can't transmit all the power to the ball as I would like.

Thanks again
Manolo

If you want to try a full bed of poly, you could try Tecnifibre Black Code or WeissCannon Scorpion (choose the gauge depending if you are a frequent string breaker or not). Don't tension them too high (let's say max 24kg mains and 23kg crosses).

If you have the possibility, string your racquet with a 4 knots stringjob (crosses starting at head): this should feel slightly "stiffer" but also a little bit "livelier".
