Default Prince O3 Speedport stringing

Two questions:

1. The Prince website says to remove the vibration dampener from the throat before stringing. However, the new racket that I am stringing already has the strings covering the dampener. Which way is correct?

2. To string the crosses properly, Prince calls for a "boomerang" tool. Where can I get one of these?

Thanks for your help.

Strings covering the dampener??? The new ones I've seen have a dampener that sits down into the throat speedports and can be removed either after the strings are cut out or by simply removing it from the strings (it has little slits through which the strings can pass, they can be a little hard to see).

You don't absolutely need a boomerang tool to do the crosses properly. If your stringing machine has a brake for the turntable, you're all set...just keep an eye on it and if the racquet starts to override the brake, brace it with your hip and clamp the string as best you can. If you don't have a brake, you'll have to wrestle with it, but it's not impossible. There is A LOT of torque on the racquet when doing the crosses. But no matter what, make sure you get the string to rest up against the frame. If you have the speedport grommet set installed, this is a non-issue since the strings will be in their proper place.

If you absolutely need a boomerang tool, I heard a while back that you could buy them from Prince directly; but I'm not sure if that is up-to-date info. Also, some people have made port inserts out of those white art erasers, by whittling them down to the proper shape and size. It works and it's cheap, too

Default thanks

I called Prince and they were really helpful. They are sending a boomerang tool via mail - free.
