Default Natural gut quality control.

I know with a natural product you will get the occasional set with flaws and it will break.
Just tried to string one of my own rackets (thankfully) with Babolat VS Team. Got as far as the 3rd cross and snap.
Tied it off and got as as far as cross 8 and snap! WTF! Thatís 2 flaws in 1 set.

So, my Q is, can anyone share their experience with regard reliability of gut and if they have a preference in brand due to breaking?

What rqt, what machine, what tension?

Babolat is know for its high quality and performance; and for a set to be label as the thinner 1.25mm team then it would have been checked thoroughlly.

If natural gut kinks it will cause weak areas and can snap under tension, especially if the kink is at the bender between grommets.

Regards

Paul

Gamma Progression II Els

Done a few of these now all at 55lb with no problems on the same Babolat racket.
Always extremely careful when handling gut, so perplexed as to what went wrong this time.

PureDrive. How does the racket matter?
In the middle of the string bed.

Its always good to know the rqt in case it broke in a certain location, and there mayber a history of issues with that type of rqt.

Having dealt with many many sets of vs gut, its never broken on me. Its unusual to have a set break in the middle of the string bed without any reason.

Referring back to your 2nd post, is this the 1st time stringing gut with it, or you've strung it before with vs team with no issues?

Are you stringing one ahead?

Regards

Paul

Hi skippy.
That’s good to know. Sounds like it’s very unusual to have one break.
Must be something I did/do. Like I said, done few guts now;
Luxilon 1.25 x3
Wilson 1.25 x5
Babolat 1.3 & 1.25 x2 of each

Never had a problem before.

OK

I think chances are more likely that there was a kink in the string that caused the breakage.

Where did you buy the string from?

Also, I run stringing course for the ERSA. So if your interested in one let me know.

Regards

Paul
