Prince/Ektelon Neos 1000
Prince/Ektelon Neos 1000

Evaluations of the Prince/Ektelon Neos 1000:

J. Kupers, June 17, 2003:

   Place of purchase: Ektelon

   Date of purchase: 1994

   Warranty: 5 years

   Price: $1200

   Equipment:

upright model, spring tensioner or lock-out head, glide bar clamps, 2 point mounting system

   Experiences:

This machine is extremely fast and accurate. Maintenance is minimal and calibration is a breeze. The 2 point mounting system does not obstruct any holes and adds to the speed of the machine. I would not choose any other model unless a constant-pull electronic machine comes out with an identical mounting system. And this machine would have to have two pulling options; 1. constant pull and 2. lock-out. I have never had a problem with this machine or my previous Ektelon Model H and Model D.

K. Rosenzweig, November 21, 2003:

Place of purchase: Bell Racquet Sports

   Date of purchase: 07/2003

   Warranty: 5 years

   Price: $1000

   Equipment:

upright model, spring tensioner or lock-out head, glide bar clamps, 2 point mounting system

   Experiences:

This is a terrific stringing machine. I've been using the same machine for almost 20 years and continue to buy additional machines as my needs grow, but always this model. It's the only one I'll use, although I've tried many newer electronic types. It's the best in efficiency, portability, durability & overall reliability.

kinsella, May 30, 2005:

   Place of purchase: Tennismachines.com

   Date of purchase: 05/1998

   Warranty: 1 year

   Price: $1100

   Equipment:

upright model, spring tensioner, 2 glide bar clamps, 2 point mounting system

   Experiences:

I live in the same city as Tennismachines.com and picked it up. Assembly was easy and it came with decent manual. This is a two-point mounting, lock-out machine and is as simple as it gets. No blocked holes and Prince claims the frame flex allowed two point system is a good thing. After stringing around 300 racquets, I am 100% satisfied and could re-sell it for about $800. Best feature is ease of use.

James Hale, July 19, 2007:

   Place of purchase: Local shop

   Date of purchase: 2000

   Warranty: used

   Price: $500

   Equipment:

upright model with height adjustment, spring lockout tensioner, 2 glide bar clamps, 2 point mounting system

   Experiences:

I use the same machine at work and at home. It is very fast and accurate with easy calibration. The gliders are easy to clean and rarely slip.
Only downside is the mass of screws. Would have liked to see more mechanical locks. Screws tend to work their way out and make routine maintenance a must. Would have liked to see rotating gliders for the price, but not big deal.
