Gamma 4000
Gamma 4000

Evaluations of the Gamma 4000:

Darren Thorne, September 14, 2000:

   Place of purchase:

   Date of purchase: 10/1991

   Warranty: 5 years limited warranty

   Price: $1,100 (today: $699)

   Equipment:

manual spring tension winder, two single action glide bar clamps, 4 point mounting, upright, large tooltray, stringing tools

   Experiences:

Quality and durability are impressive. It has been shipped from Mississippi to Alaska to New Mexico and finally to Southern California. It works flawlessly and I see no need to replace it. It would be a great find used - maybe check out Ebay.

Ben Liaw, June 13, 2001:

   Place of purchase: ATS Sports

   Date of purchase:

   Warranty: 5 years

   Price: $1,100 (today: $949)

   Equipment:

manual spring tension winder, two single action glide bar clamps, 4 point mounting, upright, large tooltray, stringing tools

   Experiences:

This is an excellent, professional machine. Accuracy is excellent, and I have strung HUNDREDS of rackets on it including ones for Lyle Menendez (yup, that Menendez).
The only disadvantage is the 4-point mounting, which doesn't secure the head as well as some of the new 6-point ones. I've sold this model and moved to a newer style Gamma machine.

Jon Provenzano, October 03, 2001:

   Place of purchase: friend

   Date of purchase: 08/2001

   Warranty: used

   Price: $600 (new: $949)

   Equipment:

manual spring tension winder, two single action glide bar clamps, 4 point mounting, upright, large tooltray, stringing tools

   Experiences:

a real sturdy machine....built really well....The guy who had it before me said he strung at least a few hundred raquets....I have only done a few so far........ works really well.........In my opinion...would prefer a stringer with more racquet support on the sides....and would also prefer swivel clamps.....for speed........overall...great machine....jp

Hadoken, June 20, 2003:

   Place of purchase:

   Date of purchase: 2001

   Warranty: used

   Price: $500 (new: $949)

   Equipment:

4 point mounting, crank tensioner, fixed glide bar clamps, upright model

   Experiences:

I'm an amateur stringer who used cheap dropweights up until I bought this Gamma 4000. It's a great value if you can find it used in good condition. Stringing is a snap if you understand basic stringing techniques. I would recommend a tension gauge though. I need to calibrate my stringer every once in while, but otherwise it is a good value on the used market.
