String Black Skull Tour 1.25
Test Conditions Tension Racquet
51/51 lbs Babolat Pure Drive GT 2015 (MP, 16/19)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
n.a.  (>10 hrs.)
No problems during stringing. Increased the tension by 20% for the tie-offs.
Played outdoors on clay court and indoors on carpet at temperatures around 15-25°C with Wilson US Open and Dunlop Fort Tournament balls. Practice, matches and doubles.
Used it in a hybrid with natural gut in the mains.
I was looking to find a poly cross string that provides better tension stability compared to Luxilon Alu Power, Oehms Alu Star, Solinco Tour Bite, or Kirschbaum Max Power, as those strings lose their control and power after a few hours of play (approx. 5 hours).
The Black Skull Tour maintains its characteristics over a long period better than the strings mentioned above. So it passed the test. For all other attributes (especially touch and power) the natural gut is responsible in the hybrid.

Played on clay court. Extremely durable despite the thin gauge. Nice crisp feel, explosive with great control. Perfect string!

I tried both strings in parallel at 1.10 mm. The Focus Hex Ultra played more consistently over several hours, with better grip and spin and control, and it maintained its tension extremely well.

Highly control oriented string for players who consistently hit the sweetspot. If you are on that level, the string provides explosive power and very good precision. When I feel in good shape, I use this string in the crosses. When in not so good shape, I prefer softer strings, e.g. Head Lynx.

Test Conditions Tension Racquet
53/51 lbs Babolat Pure Drive GT (MP, 16/19)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
 (>4 hrs.)
Square shaped with extremely sharp edges. Sharper and more durable edges than Ultra Cable. Compared to the Ultra Cable, the Blue Rock 'n Power is thinner and provides better ball bite, better control, less power and less snapback (which means less spin depending on the hitting technique).
Overall for me the perfect main string. The color is pale but I like it.

Except for the color it plays similar to the Big Star Styx in almost all aspects. The Blue Rock 'n Power seemed a tad more lively to me. It might provide slightly better power while control is a tad less.

Power and comfort are the strengths of this string. Thanks to the texture it also grabs the ball pretty well. It provides a nice, soft touch. For me, however, it lacks control.

During stringing you need to be careful not to hurt your fingers as the edges are extremely sharp. The ball bite is accordingly heavy. Generates lots of spin. Also flat strokes could be hit with excellent precision.
After 5 hours of play on clay court at high temperatures there was some string movement.
Overall a really great string!

Test Conditions Tension Racquet

Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability

Strung in two pieces on an electronic constant pull machine. Little stretch. The string is relatively stiff. Cumbersome to string due to the sharp, twisted edges and its recoil memory. No issues tying knots.

The string is low-powered and provides very good control. The extremely sharp, twisted edges grab the ball very well, leading to enormous spin and also good results on touchy drop shots and slice.
Comfort is okay for such a stiff string. I hardly noticed any tension loss.

Overall - mainly due to the excellent spin potential - I will keep an eye on this string.

String Oehms Volcano Heat 1.24
Test Conditions Tension Racquet
53/50 lbs Head YouTek Graphene Speed MP 16x19 (MP, 16/19)
Absolute Rating Durability Power Control Feel Comfort Spin Tension Stability
n.a.  (>6 hrs.)
During stringing the surface coating wears off a bit. Otherwise easy to weave and to tie off.
Played at different weather conditions with various types of balls on clay court, practice and competition.
Durability was average for a poly. Tension did not drop significantly within the period of 6 hours of play. Unfortunately I had to stop playing it after 5-6 hours due to the string movement setting in like with the other polys I have played in this frame on clay.
Control and feel are the highlights of this string. Volleys, drop shots, and smashes (not my strength) worked better than ever. The power level is not too high but sufficient.
Spin was not as good as with profiled strings, but still on a decent level thanks to the snapback.
Overall a recommendable string for players looking for a nice touch.

Compared to:
Solinco Tour Bite

The Tour Bite is more explosive and provides even better spin. The advantage of the Volcano Heat is its touch and significantly better comfort.
The touch of the Volcano Heat is similar to Kirschbaum Competition, Super Smash or Big Star Potenza.

Played on clay court with Head No. 1 balls in practice matches and drills. The string really bites the ball and provides great spin potential. Great feel on drop shots and volleys. The carbon additive makes the string feel at bit stiff, and the sound is a bit strange.
Overall a control oriented spin string that does not over power and keeps its texture for a long time.

Compared to:

Compared to Tour Bite, the Discho feels a bit stiffer and less explosive. Touch is similar. The profile grabs the ball better and provides more extreme spin.
